We had Gavin's 1 year check up on September 3 so we could avoid having to get shots before his birthday party. I wanted to make sure it was a fun day:) He does really well with shots, but still could be a little ornery from them and who wants that on there birthday!?! He is doing really well and looks healthy as can be. They checked out his head again and everything is still fine. I was so paranoid about it since it was a really bad fall. I'm so glad there was nothing bad. Here are his stats!
Weight: 22lbs 13oz-71st percentile
Height: 31 inches-88 percentile
Head Circumference: 47 1/2cm-85th percentile
Very normal and is a tall skinny guy! Here are some things that Gavin is doing this month.
- Learned how to flush the toilet! Nothing is safe now and we have to make sure to have all the bathroom doors shut so nothing gets put in the toilet...or so he doesn't play in the toilet! August 1
- Gavin had a fever for 3 days and then it went away. That night I noticed a bit of a rash, but since he gets eczema I didn't think much about it and just lotioned him up. Then the next morning the rash was darker and all over his tummy, back, neck, behind his ears and starting on his face. I called the Dr. and they said he has roseola and it will run its course and be gone in a few days. Can't catch a break with his sensitive skin. August 1
- He loves to wipe his own face or hands, or help wipe our faces. He always wants to do things by himself and is a big helper. He likes to try to put lids back on if we have them off, he does this with his applesauce. He can't actually put it on, but he tries and tries. August 5
- Gavin is learning so much and trying to talk or make sounds more and more. He is so smart. Patrick taught him how to do a monster growl and he does it so good! He will also do a cow moo, wolf howl, and tries to do an elephant. He will point to his nose and toes. August 5. He brought me a picture with a baby on it and said, "ba bee" then would point at the baby and blow a kiss! In the car he had our monkey mirror and Ellie kept telling him what a monkey says. Gavin started repeating it and will now say a monkey sound. Ellie is a great helper with animal sounds and Gavin likes to try to be like her. August 27.
- He has gotten a couple of teeth this month. His top left tooth on August 17 and the bottom right tooth on August 18.
- Gavin loves to dance and move to music. He will bend his knees and shake his hands. He tried to jump too. August 17
- He LOVES books, just like Ellie. He will sit and look through pictures for a long time, or bring a book to me to read. His favorite is to take a book to Grandpa Brown and have him read a book to him. I love that he likes books so much. August 18
- He moves around tons when he sleeps, but really likes to sleep on his tummy! August 28
