Griffin's Baby Blessing and meeting more Family

It is so fun that Kati and Mike have a little guy that is a couple weeks older than Gavin.  We were able to go and spend part of the weekend in Layton when Griffin was blessed and we had a great time.  Sept 29-30, 2012.  Here is the set up for sleeping.  I thought it was pretty good and Ellie loved that she had her own little bed.

Gavin - 1 Month

1 Month already!!!  I know I say it every time, but man time flies.  Gavin is so stinkin' cute and so cuddly.  I forgot just how much I love little babies.  Even though you go through so much to get them here and lose quite a bit of sleep and 'me' time, they are so very worth it.  I have wanted to get a big truck for a picture like this for Gavin.  I think it turned out awesome and I'm so glad we got one.  Now we can have it as he grows and see how he changes...plus, what little boy doesn't want a huge dump truck to play with!?!

• Right now Gavin is awake more and more.  He looks around at everything and is very observant of everything.  
• Gavin spits up like crazy.  On Sept 17 he spit up so much that I started to get a little worried.  As I talked to people they all said not to worry and that some babies just spit up.  I even called and talked to a nurse and she said as long as it isn't projectile and happening all the time, he is fine.  It is crazy the amount he spits up and I constantly have a burp cloth and bib!
• A little personal, but Gavin poops so loud!  No body ever wonders if he is stinky, because you always know when he has gone. 
• Ellie is a great big sister and is very protective.  Whenever he starts to cry, she is there to check on him and make sure he is okay.  She constantly wants to hold Gavin and play with his hand and toes and hair.  She LOVES to rub his head.
• Gavin is starting to find his voice and makes lots of little noises.  He still gets a little surprised when it happens, but it is so cute.  I kind of always thought all little babies sound the same, but he definitely sounds like a little boy, just like Ellie sounded like a little girl.  I love hearing his little noises.

Red Light, Green Light

Sept 27, 2012  We decided to go and have a picnic in the canyon tonight.  We just stopped at McDonald's on the way up.  It is so beautiful out right now and we couldn't pass it up.  Ellie really enjoyed running around outside.  Patrick taught her all about red light green light.

Happenings Around Here

Ellie was helping daddy get ready for church today.  Sept 16, 2012

Ellie and Grandpa Brown go for walks most days.  She loves to be outside and it's very nice that Grandpa is here!  Sept 17, 2012

 We tried out painting with different objects.  We used a dish cleaner, pom poms and pipe cleaners wound together. Ellie loves painting and this was lots of fun. Sept 24, 2012

Ringling Brothers Circus!

I had never been to the circus before and always wanted to go.  Every year when the circus comes, I always say we are going to go...this year we made it happen.  It was awesome!  We had a really great time and Ellie was mesmerized.  We even got some yummy lemonade and cotton candy.

  Sept 22, 2012 This years theme was Dragons and it didn't disappoint. 

The Lion Tamer was pretty cool and the lions and tigers actually got quite feisty.  I was a little worried for him a few times.

They had a cat show during part of it and it was amazing what they trained cats to do.  I didn't think you could ever get a cat to do the things they did.  They had cats going through obstacle courses and climbing a rope hanging upside down.  It was really cool.  They also had motorcycles on wire above the stage with girls doing crazy moves on the back.
They had these two girls that swung from there hair...it was crazy and kind of creepy at the same time.  I was shocked that there hair was that strong.  They even hung from each others hair.  Around the outside they had these other girls doing acrobatics in a glass ball that was pretty cool.

The cage with motorcycles was amazing.  They fit so 15 motorcycles in!

I loved the acrobats that went on and the samurai sword guys were really cool also.
Ellie loved the clowns and how they would do each act after the real one.  They were hilarious.

She also loved the elephants!  I still can't believe that elephants can do so many things.  They sat on there bum with feet in the air, climbed onto little buckets and hopped onto each others back.  You wouldn't think they would be able to do the things they did being so large.

We had tons of fun and Ellie was worn out!  It was well worth it and we will be going back again!

Sleeping Gavin and 3 Weeks

I love how cute and peaceful little sleeping babies are. 

Gavin's hangs are always in a tight fist...except when he is sleeping.  He just zonked out while getting ready for bed. Sept 11, 2012

  Something about pillows seem to make my kids sleep so good.  I wish it wasn't such a hazard to have them sleep on them at night in there crib...oh well.  Here is a cute picture of Gavin sleeping on our bed one morning.  Sept 14, 2012

Can't believe he is 3 weeks already.  Time seems to be getting faster and faster.  Gavin is sleeping better through the night and even slept 7 hours on Sept 15!  I actually woke up and had to jump up and check on him to make sure he was alright.  He is up now just once to eat during the night.  It is so nice!  Another note, he poops all the time.  We have between 15-20 poopy diapers a day!  Way more than Ellie ever pooped!  He is a pretty content little baby.  Sept 19, 2012

2 Week Dr Appt

We had Gavin's two week Dr appt today and he is doing great.  He weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz(69 percentile) and is growing like a weed.  He is still 21 inches long.  I love how his hair is sticking up like the lions.  He is just so cute. Gavin is awake a little bit more, but still pretty sleepy.  I love being able to just hold and cuddle him.  He is a great eater and eats every 3 hours.  He could probably go longer, but I want him to go longer at night, so I will keep him on the 3 hour schedule.  He is still up a couple of times at night, but just eats and goes right back to sleep.

 Ellie needed to be in the picture as well.  She is so cute with Gavin and loves to be around him touching and holding him.  She insisted on being in the picture along with some of her animals:)

Last night Patrick and my dad gave Gavin a blessing for his circumcision.  I am so glad that Patrick is a priesthood holder and able to do that for us whenever we need it.  I was really nervous for it all happening, but knew that's what needed to be done.  He did great and really didn't cry too much.  He has been crying a little bit more today, but doing really well.  We sure love having him in our family.

Thunder and Lightning!

One of my favorite memories is sitting on the front porch with my mom and watching the rain and lightning.  We have a great front porch that is covered so we are able to sit outside and really enjoy it without getting soaked:)  We had an amazing rain storm with some loud thunder and cool lightning.  Ellie loves to play in the rain, so we headed out to play.  Then the thunder came and she wasn't quite sure about it all. 

By the end I think she was okay with it, but definitely not a big fan.

We had Gavin's newborn pictures taken by my cousin Liz Madsen.  She did an awesome job and they turned out so great!  Let me know if you need someone for pictures, I would highly recommend her! Gavin is 10 days old. Sept 8, 2012
