Gavin's Newborn Pictures

We had Gavin's newborn pictures taken by my cousin Liz Madsen.  She did an awesome job and they turned out so great!  Let me know if you need someone for pictures, I would highly recommend her! Gavin is 10 days old. Sept 8, 2012

BYU Hey Cougars all the way!!

I think it is adorable how he looks like he is roaring

I love there toes in this one.  They both are flexing them!
She is so beautiful and photogenic.

 Love my life!!!

Hanging with the Girls

We were able to go and spend the day in Layton to see Aunt Jenni and the girls.  Ellie had such a great time playing with 'Livia,' Izzy and Emma, she was in heaven.  They girls were so excited to be able to play with her and to have some cute new little babies to hold and cuddle.  I am sad because I only got a picture with Izzy, but she is super cute:) September 8, 2012.
And of course, here is Grandma Judy with all the grand kids!  Ellie loves holding both Gavin and Griffin!
Aunt Annette also left an awesome baby present!  How cute is this diaper motorcycle!?!
Thanks for the presents, Jenni and Annette!

Ellie-2 Years 3 Months

Ellie is 2 Years and 3 Months.  She is growing like crazy and is so smart.  I can't believe that time is going this fast and I just want my little girl to stop growing so fast.  She seems so much bigger now that Gavin is here and so grown up.

  •  We potty trained before Gavin came, but she is now back in pull-ups or diapers for a bit until we can get the hang of things.  She still used the big girl potty most of the time.
  • Some things that you are saying that make me laugh so much are
*Aug 29th Ellie started saying, "I have a question..."
*When she's on the phone she says, "I'll call you back."
*She says, "Don't you know"  all the time
*Ellie loves to make up her own songs and will sing all
                  day long.
*Sept 3 she came in looking for her blankie.  She cups
her hands around her mouth and
                  yells, "Blankie....blankie....where could it be?"
  • Ellie is such a great big sister.  Sept 3 she woke up and went to find Gavin sleeping with Grandma in her chair.  She climbed up and started rubbing his cheek and singing softly to him.  She loves to hold him and play with him.  She gives him kisses all the time.
  • She is having a really hard time sleeping right now and is waking up 2-6 times every night.  Naps are also really hard and she only takes about an hour nap in the day.  She constantly needs me.  I am sure this is all to do with Gavin being here and hopefully we can get back on a good schedule soon.
  • Ellie does not enjoy all of the 'stinky' diapers.  She cracked me up one time while changing his diaper and I looked up to see her covering her nose and saying, "pee ewww, Gavin has a stinky diaper."
  •  Ellie went to the store with Patrick(Aug 31, 2012) Love her sporting her "Cool Dude Glasses" as she calls them
I seriously love having Ellie so much!  She brings so much laughter and joy into our family and I am so glad she is ours.

Week One and More Visitors

My brother, Gary and Katie and also my sister, Krista came to visit us the weekend right after we came home.  It was fun to have everyone there and hanging out to see Gavin.  I was a little worried because who knows how my emotions would be, but I really think it helped to have everyone there.  I didn't have time to get sad or cry...to much...which was nice.
Sept 1
I loved these jammies and his little tongue that always sticks out

And this outfit-I also love how he is all scrunched up with his hand up to his face

Already loving the bouncer

Cute Ellie snug as a bug after her bath.  I love her smile here.

Sept 2
She wants to hold him all the time.  I love that she loves him so much!
Big stretches.  I love it when babies stretch, especially when waking up and they stretch and there legs curl up and bums stick out.  It's just so cute.
We have Gavin sleeping in a pack n play in our room.  He will probably be there for the first few months.  I am a little more nervous to put him in his crib, because he and Ellie will be sharing a room.  She is so caring that I am afraid she will try to help and give him too many toys or blankets.

We found out in the hospital that Gavin was a little jaundice and we would need to come back the next day(Sept 1) to have him tested.  He was fine after just the one day.  I was a little worried though because he wasn't pooping and hadn't since the hospital.  After 2 days at home I called the dr office and they said it's normal with jaundice because they can't break it down and to watch it and call the next day.  He still hadn't pooped and when I called they said it would be okay to wait one more day, but if nothing happened I would need to either bring him in, or help him(by putting something up his little bum)  I really didn't want to do that and was so glad that shortly after calling he did it all himself.  Then later on he did it more and more and I was shocked at just how much...I guess that is what happens when you hold it all in for so long:)  It was really funny because I was changing him and my sis-in-law Katie was there.  He just kept going and she had my brother, Gary, run and grab a bag to catch it all.  Crazy.  Now he poops so many times during the day that I wondered why I was ever worried:)

Sept 3
Uncle Gary-it took a bit of convincing to get Gary to hold Gavin.  He was a little apprehensive, but then we walked in to see him like this:)

Ellie LOVES Gary and Kati.  I didn't get a picture, but they brought a cute little cupcake apron for Ellie to wear and Katie even made brownies with her.  She had a great time!

Patrick was holding Gavin while he slept:)  Something about holding a sleeping baby sure makes you tired.

Gavin had his first bath at home.  He loved it just as much as in the hospital.  He really liked the warm water.

I had to show this picture because it shows just how read his hair is.  It is crazy how much being washed and out in natural light shows the redness.  I love it!

Sept 4
Went on a first walk with Gavin

Successfully wore him out
Sept 5-1 Week Old
We are taking pictures with Gavin's lion to chart his growth.  He are so tiny right now:)  He are eating every 3 hours but go 4-5 at night.  He is still so sleepy and we just love holding him.  It is hard to even want to put him down because it is so great to just snuggle and hold.  Gavin is a very happy baby and rarely cry.  Ellie loves to hold him and we are so happy he's part of our family.

Had to show a picture of how Ellie was sleeping last night.  She loves to use her pillow as a blankie and her blankie as a pillow

Gavin's Hospital Stay:)

Here are some pictures of Gavin from the hospital.  We had lots of fun visitors come and say hello.

Aug 30-middle of the night:)

I look a little tired:)
Both Grandma's were at the hospital waiting for Gavin's arrival.  They were so excited to be able to come and meet him for the first time.

Grandma Judy

Aug 30-Morning  We really wanted to have Ellie come in right when he was born, but decided it would be better for her to sleep(since he was born at 11:52PM)  Grandma Judy stayed at my parents house and Ellie loved waking up to find her there.  They brought her over the next morning to meet Gavin.  She wasn't so sure what to think, but loved seeing her new brother.

We had a bunch of little gifts to give her at the hospital.  We wanted to make sure she new she wasn't being left out:)  Sun glasses(since she will now be on the side of the car and the sun will be her eyes more) Squinky's, a car seat for her baby

First family picture

Ellie loved holding him and kept giving him kisses and patting his head and cheeks.  She is so gentle with him.

Aug 31-We just relaxed this day and hung out till it was time to go home.

Ellie loves him so much already

He didn't like having to get dressed.  We brought him home in his cute little sluggers outfit.

Finally calmed down

Headed out the door.  It was so different this time going home during the daytime and having it be just us.  With Ellie I was so nervous and the hospital did so much more because it was my first and I had so many questions.  This time my parents were home with Ellie(napping), so it was just us.  Gavin weighed 8lbs .08oz.  He lost just over 5oz in the hospital, which is very small amount.

It is so great to have Gavin home now and have him in our family.  We already love him so much!
